Ye workers are striking in protest of poor service delivery. EVERYONE's been on stike this year - construction workers, doctors, the South African Broadcasting Commission. It's insane. What a country. Love it Oh and hey! My friend has decided to keep the baby! Well, for now that's what her heart decision is. She still has plenty of time to sit with it and change her mind if she wants to later. I photographed her tonight when she told me, on an old medium format (large square negative) camera. If she does stick to this decision, I'm going to document her whole pregnancy I'm happy and excited for her. She's going to be an incredible mother, I have no doubt. Oooo and something else! I have another interview tomorrow with Greenpeace Africa! They called me for a phone interview today. It's to be one of their face-to-face fundraisers. If it goes well I might tell them I can only start in maybe 2 weeks time, so I have time to hear from the multimedia lady at The Times. Cos that's the job I really want and the pay is much better. The meeting went really well. i'm keeping fingers and holding my breath, too! !!!! ( and thanks g ! ) My friend has decided to keep the baby! without knowing her situation, (working? married? financially and emotionally able to care for a baby?) i just hope she will think very, very carefully about the 18+ year commitment she's facing. child-rearing is trying even in the most ideal of circumstances. she will need help and support if she's single. most pregnant women, especially in the first trimester when hormones are whacked and emotions are more whacked, are faced with this very difficult decision and i sure don't envy them, because they really have no idea what they'e facing. keep talking to her wreds? if she opts to keep the baby, it'd be awesome having her pregnancy documented. you are always such a good friend. more finger-crossing and breath-holding re the green peace interview!! I'm supposed to stop people walking by in malls and try sign them up to Greenpeace. No one's going to stop for me if I'm coughing all over them though I passed out at like 6:30 last night and have been waking up coughing ever since. I coughed so hard I threw up It sucks. I don't know how I'm going to stand there for 6 hours feeling like this. Oh well, bring it on. wreds

Posts: 5581 (08/05/09 03:31:51) Motherly Wisdom More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	awww, wreds.. i'm soooooo sorry you're so ill. maybe you shouldn't work at all until you're better. i'm sure they would understand..? such rotten timing! sounds like you have a nasty case of bronchitis. among the things i have found that help are cough lozenges you get at the pharmacy or supermarket. they come in a packet, usually about 30 of them, and are quite reasonable in price. i prefer the honey lemon variety because they also soothe the throat which gets irritated from coughing so much. a vaporizer at night helps, too, as does Vicks Vapo-rub, if you have it there. it helps you to breathe easier and break up the cough, too. i hope you are eating well and remembering the vitamin C? 1000mgs a day is good. btw, some types of lozenges have 'C' added. so how's the job going, wreds, IF you've been working, that is. i wouldn't blame you if you had to call in sick. better to take care of yourself and get well! sending you mega get well vibes and lots of love...and tissues... plus zillions of these.. I'm such a miserable sick person I feel terrible. I have no appetite but I'm trying to eat, but I seem to have dropped a couple kgs. Just on the scale, I can't see it on myself at all. It's a little worrying though. I worked yesterday and it wasn't bad (signed up 2 whole people!) but last night I coughed till I threw up again and didn't sleep for even 5 minutes. My skull and my ribs are killing me. Everytime I cough it's like POW!! Kick to the head, knife in the stomach! So ye I called in sick today and went to the doc. I got antibiotics and cough syrup. Then I went to the supermarket and got Lucozade and orange juice. I'm so exhausted. I'm off tomorrow anyway so hopefully I'll be ok by Friday. It was so sweet, I went to an NA meeting last night and they've heard all my job finding woes week to week. So when we introduced ourselves I said, "I'm wred, I'm an employed addict" and everyone clapped! It was the coolest thing. Ok back to bed for wred. Though I hate it. I can't sleep I just lie there so bored. wreds

She's just usually off wandering and doesn't curl up with me that often. Gonna curl up with Juno for a bit now. I got in a few good hours last night but I'm still freaking tired. Cough cough. Sniff sniff. Oh and I now have thrush in my mouth from the antibiotics. Fantastic. The pharmacist was even grossed out I think, hehehe. Even groser is the stuff I have to swish around my mouth and swallow. Makes me yack Have a killer weekend ladies. wreds

I'm such a miserable sick person i wish i were there, too, to mother you, wreds. if i could get 2 little kids thru nearly 4 weeks total of chicken pox, i can get you thru this. i'm so glad you went to the dr. and got antibiotics. i confess i'm a bit concerned about the cough syrup, tho. just be very careful to stick to the exact dosage and the time between them, ok? eww, yucky thrush, too? poor youuuu. wish those hugs were real, not cyber.... the weight loss concerns me, as well. right now proper nourishment is really important, not just to keep your strength up, but to help fight this virus, too. especially necessary are fruits (citrus are best) and veggies, and a hot cereal for breakfast would be excellent. get the instant variety in packets. quick and easy. and a multivitamin would be great, too, along with extra "C". soup for supper is the best. also quick and easy. Everytime I cough it's like POW!! Kick to the head, knife in the stomach! i soooo know what you mean. one thing that will help the tummy is to hold a pillow over it and press hard when you cough. (counter pressure) they taught me that in the hospital the first time i had abdominal surgery. it really helps! do you have a fever? tylenol, or its equivalent, will reduce it and help with all those muscle aches, too. YAYAYAYYAY for the 2 sign-ups!! !!!!!!! So I coulda used you then tooooo aww, sorry i wasn't there 4 uuuu. I don't even remembe you mentioning this..? well, here are some retroactive hugs,swet girl. adults usually have lighter cases of pox. my son got it first, the incubation is about 2 weeks and lasted 2 weeks, then my daughter got it, but she had a lighter case, fortunately, as she was only 2. my son was covered from head to toe, even on his feet, and unbelievably, some in his mouth. nights were the worst, he couldn't sleep, so i was giving him baking soda baths in the middle of the night, then with a q-tip, dabbing calamine lotion on every pock, 3-4 times a day. fun! (i am soooo kidding.) soooooooo happy to hear you're feeling better, the ick is gone and the cough is subsiding! !!!!! sorry you got abandoned but hope your day was successful anyway! here's to lots and lot of sign-ups!! She's curled up so sweetly in L's room right now. I just went to have some 3am coffee and a smoke with L. It's awesome having a housemate who is awake when I am. Work was ok. Long though. I had to stay and extra 3 hours to take the table and banners home with me and I was so done with the day. I made my target for the week tho, just. And I'm working at a mall 2 mins from my house this whole week which is gonna be nice. Ok gotta crash. I'm up again in 4 hours.
